Wheeler Re-elected Commission Chair

FFOF President Keith Wheeler, has been re-elected for the period 2008-2012 as Chair of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication.   Keith stepped into the role of commission chair in 2006 to fill the vacancy left by Denise Hamú.  The election was held at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Barcelona, Spain, 5-14 October 2008.

The Commission on Education and Communication's new tag-line to guide future work is "Powering Change."  See the CEC web site at http://cec.wcln.org.

  • the SOF introductory video;
  • high resolution, large format (wall sized) files of the SOF Graphic Templates to use during workshops;
  • PowerPoint versions of the templates which you can use as worksheets or to capture and share the ideas of each group as they work through the process.

FFOF participates in EU meeting on National Security and Climate Change
On 18 December 2007, FFOF President Keith Wheeler participated in an Institute for Environmental Security (IES) conference, convened on the subject of the impact of climate change on international security and sustainable development. The conference, called "From Bali to Poznan: New Issues, New Challenges," was held at the European Parliament in Brussels.     Read more...

The role and use of new information and communication technologies to enhance both informal and formal learning processes has been the hallmark of FFOF since its inception. FFOF established the benchmark globally for the integration of Technology and Learning about Sustainability in its award winning programs developed in the 1990's -- "Education for a Sustainable Future" and "Shaping Our Future". There is great interest for these and other similiar efforts to both the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (www.bibalex.org/English/index.aspx) and the IUCN Commission o­n Education and Communication.
